Dear Friend๐น ๐ถ The Living, Breathing Ecology of Song ๐ถ๐น "To a poet, the human community is like the community of birds to a bird, singing to each other. Love is one of the reasons we are singing to one another, love of language itself, love of sound, love of singing itself, and love of the other birds.” – Sharon Olds, American Poet, (b 1942) Here in London, Spring has finally exploded - trills of birdsong cascade through the warm air and clouds of puffy green leaves clothe once-bare branches. Coats are discarded, faces brighten and voices exclaim "at last!" underlining the innate connection between environmental and human wellbeing. For me, singing is a life-affirming, present-moment ecology in which the interconnected nature of individual, community and environment can be re-membered and reinvigorated. So I'm delighted to share this devised video presentation on the multi-layered power of song, featuring footballers, geese, wolves and choirs, given at The International Network for Music, Spirituality, and Well-being (MSW) Conferencewith thanks to inspirational musical pioneer Rev June Boyce-Tillmanfor her generous invitation. At the conference, I found myself asking - "What would happen if we valued birdsong in the same way we value Mozart?" I'd love to hear your thoughts, feelings and responses - do drop me a line or leave a comment.Keep sharing your beautiful voice in the world - It makes a difference. ๐น ๐ถ Wishing you a Magical May! ๐ถ ๐น Be well, breathe deep and keep singing loudly!Drop me a line or sing me a song:katie@therosewindow.orgwww.therosewindow.org @katierosewindow on the Socials |
