๐ŸŒน๐ŸŽถ Tidal Times ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŒน

For the time being standing on top of the highest peak, just being-time.
For the time being moving along the bottom of the deepest sea, being time

- Dรดgen, Japanese Founder of Zen Sลtล  (1200–1253)
- Uji Essay (1240)

We are time. We are happenings. We are fleeting sounds in the grand opera of the Universe. - Beth Kempton,
Kokoro

I hope you are enjoying the sun's summer kisses or the brisk wisdom of winter depending on where you are in the world!

Here in London, August brings time to listen for fresh inspiration riding the balmy breeze whilst digging the foundations of the Autumn Season.

The river is the best place to be as the tides carry today's passengers to new futures across the city's story-laden riverbed and monumental shoreline.
All of time is happening simultaneously within us now, as we weave wisdom from our personal and collective histories into a hopeful future.

London's cool edifices offer shelter from the summer sizzle, stories compressed in every stone. I recently visited the National Musicians Church - a Wren church close to St Paul's built after the Great Fire of London destroyed its medieval predecessor. Sir Henry Wood, founder of the Proms, learned to play the organ and is buried in the Musicians Chapel. Today the church is an open space for people of all backgrounds to come and sing, and I'm thrilled to be launching my vocal ensemble Roaring Roses there in September.

Songs are conduits of time, embedding strains of people and places in the riverbed of personal and collective memory. As present-moment melodies surge towards the future, nothing is forgotten.
At Seaside Songs and Tidal Tales Workshop, a joyful collaboration with Anna Sayburn Lane, Deal's historical songs and tales drifted in and out of our creative musings amidst sailing boats on the dazzling sunny seafront.
More writing and singing fun to come soon.

As the tides turn, I extend heartfelt thanks to the singers at
* Caterham Community Choir for eight and half years of happy singing. Enormous gratitude to my choral collaborator Sarah Fisher who continues to lead the choir from strength to strength.
* SEL Mind Wellbeing Choir - now on pause until 2025.
Sing for Water - love to all those singing by the Thames on 15th September.

A recent State of the Arts report reveals that although 91% of adults engage with the arts and the growth rate of the creative industries exceeds the general economy, the UK is amongst the lowest funders of culture in Europe.
On September 13th, I'll be trailing the river's wend on the
Thames Moonlight Walk - donations gratefully received to help Breathe Arts Health Research continue their vital work, including Breathe Harmony NHS Staff Choir, performing at a spectacular Summer Concert on 17th August.
Having worked on singing projects within the NHS for a decade,
I can only hope the turning of political tides brings sorely needed
reinvestment in arts and wellbeing.

Amidst life's ebbs and flows, effervescent bubbles of hope froth atop the tides of time. I'll leave you with the last verse of Wild Hope, a poem-song written for Muna Escoffery's magical H.O.P.E. Series which continues on 5th October.

Wild hope, wild hope
Listen deep for wild hope
Cast your boat out on the sea
Let your wild hope run free

๐ŸŒน๐ŸŽถ Wishing you restorative, rejuvenating times this August! ๐ŸŽถ ๐ŸŒน
